Maid Cafes in the Philippines

A recently opened maid cafe in the Philippines was featured by TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) today.   Maid cafes, an expanding industry in Japan, are a subcategory of cosplay restaurants where waitresses dressed in maid costumes act as servants and treat customers as masters in a private home.

Takeshi's TV program to feature Charice

The success story of Charice will be featured in the Japanese TV program "Kiseki Taiken! Unbelievable!" (Miracle Experience! Unbelievable!) on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010.  It will tell us about the humble beginnings of Charice in the Philippines which became a major key to her current success.  It will also include touching stories about Charice on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Pyramid of Charice, tops Japan radio chart

Pyramid, the carrier single in the self-titled album of Charice, tops the Tokio Hot 100 Chart as of first week of August 2010. It beats other hit singles of foreign and Japanese artists like Katy Perry, Rox, Kylie Minogue, Namie Amuro, and Juju.

Charice tops Japan Oricon Chart

The Limited Edition Japan version of the album of Charice, which was released on July 7, 2010, is the No. 1 Foreign Album in Japan as of August 2 according to the Oricon Weekly Chart.   Coming from 4th position the previous week, it goes straight to no. 1, displacing the albums of Eminem, Lady Gaga, and Oasis.

Standing ovation for Charice in Mezamashi Live

Charice performed in the opening act of “Mezamashi Live” last July 19, 2010.  It is her first open-air live performance in Japan.

Charice performs live in J-Wave

As announced in my previous blog post, Charice did an awesome live performance at J-Wave.  Below is her rendition of Mikazuki (Crescent Moon) which was originally recorded by famous Japanese singer Ayaka.
