Nihonjin no shiranai Nihongo
If you want to watch a TV comedy-drama series that is entertaining and educational at the same time, I highly recommend Nihonjin no shiranai Nihongo (The Japanese that the Japanese people don't know).
The story is about Haruko, a fashionista shop assistant who dreams of becoming a high school teacher but has to first teach Japanese to foreign students before she could be introduced to a regular high school teaching position. The story presents how Haruko deals with nine foreign students who bombard her with funny and difficult questions.
The TV series, which is based on the comic essay written by Hebizo and Umino Nagiko, features young actress Riisa Naka. It started airing on Nihon Terebi on July 15, 2010 and will continue to run every Thursday at 11:58 PM.
