A long-lost father inspires woman to seek nursing work in Japan

MANILA -- A half-Japanese woman living in Philippines has set a goal of becoming a caregiver in Japan, hoping to reunite with her long-lost Japanese father.

The 18-year-old woman, Allieza Tsuda, was born to a Japanese father and a Filipino mother who was working at a restaurant in Japan when she got pregnant. Tsuda was born in the Philippines and has never been to Japan.

Tsuda's parents did not get married, but her father visited her in the Philippines until she was around 3 years old. Then she stopped hearing from him. The name of her Japanese father is recorded on her Filipino birth certificate, and she still keeps several letters from him.
